A weekend trip to Kashid Beach from Pune, India

Visiting Pune has been a lot of fun for us during the last couple of years.  It is one of those places where you can go on amazing day or weekend trips within fairly short driving distances – mountains — you got it!  Forts?  plenty to choose from …. Religious sites?  Too many to choose …. Beaches?  amazing options!

So, one weekend, we decided to head to Kashid Beach from Pune.  Correction actually – our original destination was Alibag, but, we quickly changed our plans when we got there.  There was some kind of a large gathering happening in the area, so we couldn’t spend time there. After spending 3 1/2 hours on the road, we really did not want to return to Pune the same day.  So, after speaking to the local folks, we headed to Kashid Beach – about an hour south of Alibag.

It was one of the best decisions we made.  We were very lucky that weekend.  We were staying only for one night in the area but needed three rooms.  Luckily, a small resort happened to have 3 rooms available just for that night… we were able to get them!  They were actually expecting a large gathering the next day and so, had not rented out the rooms the previous night. So, we had the entire resort to ourselves… the cooks made a delicious dinner for us.  While dinner was being made, we walked across the road to access the beach… pure bliss!  The beachfront was very clean and since there was no one around, it felt like a private beach.  After watching a beautiful sunset, we headed back to the resort to have dinner and call it a night.

The next morning we all woke up early and headed back to the beach.  The water was super calm and the waves gentle and the temperature perfect.  The kids had a blast enjoying themselves on the beach.  After spending about three hours chilling on the beach, we headed back to the resort to get ready.  After a late breakfast we headed back home to Pune, stopping for a light lunch along the way.

All in all, a weekend well spent!

Bottomline

Definitely check out Alibag – the fort and the surrounding area look quite impressive — but definitely stay in and enjoy Kashid Beach!  Even the simple resorts are worth staying at : )

Thank you for your comment. The beach pictures shown are from the beach of the resort. It was so empty that there wasn’t much variation to show 🙂
I normally don’t mention or keep track of where we stayed as the quality of most places can vary… I do make exceptions once in a while when we find a gem… but I think I will start keeping better track going forward… Thank you for the feedback 🙂
